Ah yes, when malt whisky and Sherry create effects like this … what can we say?.... just enjoy it! This was our recommendation to you last year, and as a surprise, and because as always we're a little protective of our creations, we kept a few tots of this “little blend” in the cask. This whisky aged in Sherry casks will instantly whisk you off to the quayside of a port in Amsterdam, Queen of the Seas… crossing the canals at a brisk pace to reach the port, we stumble upon exotic, unfamiliar but pleasant aromas… with a hint of the forbidden, but irresistible. We could say, if you have a penchant for the classics, as irresistible as the Siren Song that tormented Ulysses. So, your curiosity piqued and your sense of adventure keen, push your nose into the glass to smell this whisky. You'll find a succession of aromas and essences that are perhaps a little hurried, but all to the point and serving the right purpose… burnt sulphur and spices of every sort imaginable. You simply need to be patient after the aromas open up until the tasting stage, which will surely compose the arrangement of notes already naturally detected by the nose into a far more complex symphony than smell alone can create. We imagine foodstuffs from Borneo, coffee and sugar from the Americas, goods from Asia Minor and the Arabian Nights. A place in great ferment that arduously and quietly inspires a longing for adventure. Wherever your travels take you, don't forget to always follow that scent trail left by spices… “La tua voce come il coro delle sirene di Ulisse m' incatena ed è bellissimo perdersi in quest' incantesimo.” Song, Sentimento Nuevo - Franco Battiato 1981
