Juicy. Like a sugared almond. A great single malt. Personality and pride. An outstanding son of Scotland. The impression is that of a rather sullen Highland warrior who nonetheless on the battlefield displays real majesty and unbounded strength. Indeed, we let a few minutes go by after pouring and are rewarded with a veritable military tattoo of aromas on the nose. In an orderly manner we identify leather, wet grass, the aroma of a scabbard worn away by the repeated drawing of the sword. On the palate it's boisterous, fearless and cocky. Spicy, developing tones, scents of blue cheese, berries and undergrowth. An intriguing finish: a mix of saltiness and ashes. Let's say it's the result of a camp-fire on the shore… a fire of brushwood and sea spray that burned through the night, warming the lonely figure watching the horizon, perhaps awaiting a friendly ship. “And the sea will grant each man new hope, as sleep brings dreams of home. Well... Christopher Columbus.” The Hunt for Red October 1990 - John Mc Tiernan
