An important year, 1991. For many of you drinkers, it may seem like yesterday, for others perhaps it's their year of birth, but in any case we're talking about just twenty-seven years ago. Bon Jovi were blaring out on the radio and the world watched as the Soviet Union collapsed, its iron curtain in tatters. This is a majestic, powerful, explosive rum. Complexity itself. On the nose, the bouquet opens with musky and earthy notes. The smell of the well-worn pews of a Gothic church in northern France. A waft of distant fragrances. In the list of sensations, soft vanilla emerges first, followed by liquorice and dried fruit, with an enticing note of fresh fruitiness too. It has to be said, this really is a very complex rum, a rum that teases us. A taste explosion of myrtle, juniper berry and a buttery sweetness of pollen. The sweet notes develop a roundness and subtlety that takes shape. Chlorophyll tones provide structure.
