By now, we've come to look on this bottle as a loyal travelling companion.
Witnessing the development of this rum has been an almost spiritual experience. Retracing all the bottlings is as intriguing as it is thrilling. Without an iota of sentimentality, it shows us how everything changes, everything evolves. This bottling captures the spirit at the precise moment that signals the start of its real maturity. Sweet and bitter… Water and Salt. Raisined grapes, ripe fruit, smoky undertones, thyme and toasted oregano. On the palate, it's pungent and at the same time rewarding and silky, but balsamic. The finish brings an aftertaste of mint and liquorice. Once in the mouth… act two gets underway. Incredibly lively, it wins us over like a kiss we've been waiting for all summer long. Aromatic notes veer towards tobacco, vanilla and liquorice. The flavour is remarkably bright and clear, like the light that characterises its lands of origin… An incredibly lingering flavour, just like the memory of the images it conjures up. The finish is fragrant… we must admit: we're smitten.
"Soaring over all the accusations… A song to feel alive and free, is you and me."
Lucio Battisti – 1972 A Song to Feel Alive
